What it does
- 21 years from opening, with her age at the end of every year
- Deposits for the first 15 years, with the month you deposit, so interest is worked out the way the scheme does
- Rate per year: past rates for years gone by, today's rate (8.2%) ahead
- Balance when she turns 18, when up to 50% can be withdrawn for higher education
- Maturity amount and date, total deposits and tax-free interest
- Friendly notes when a year has no deposit or crosses ₹1.5 lakh
For parents who like to plan
Use it to decide between depositing in April or monthly, to see what a smaller yearly amount gives, and to plan college fees around the 18th birthday.
